HalalBasis has no accounts. You never sign up, and we have no way to identify you. This page describes everything the app sends anywhere.
Your scan history sits in the app's own folder on the device. We never upload it, it does not sync to iCloud, and we cannot read it. Deleting the app deletes it with no copy left behind anywhere.
Your settings live there too: language, strictness level, and which topics you have asked the app to flag. So does the additive handbook. All 247 entries ship inside the app and are read from disk, so opening them sends nothing at all.
When you scan a product, the app sends the barcode number to Open Food Facts, an open product database, and gets back the product name and its ingredients list. A barcode identifies a product, not a person.
When you photograph an ingredients list instead, the app sends that image to our server, which converts it to text and then throws the image away. We do not keep it after answering and we do not use it to train anything.
Both requests travel over an encrypted connection. Neither one carries your name, your email address, an account identifier, or your location, because the app does not have any of those in the first place.
The app carries no analytics, no crash reporter, no advertising, and no tracking. There is no third party SDK inside it that collects anything. We do not build a profile of you, so we have nothing to sell and nothing to share.
Credits and the one-time unlock are handled entirely by Apple. Apple tells the app whether a purchase is valid. Your payment details never pass through us and we never see them.
HalalBasis is a general-audience shopping tool. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect anything from them.
Because we hold no personal data, there is nothing for us to export or erase on request. Everything the app knows about you is on your device, under your control: clear the history inside the app, or delete the app.
If this policy changes in a way that affects what the app sends, the date at the top changes with it and the previous wording is replaced here.
